Woman Grand Master, PICA Founder

Woman Grand Master Bodda Pratyusha (born 1997 in Tuni, East Godavari, Andhra Pradesh)is an Indian chess player. In 2012, she was the Indian girls’ under-17 champion In April 2015, she earned the Woman International Master (WIM) title

In 2020, she became the third Telugu woman to earn the Woman Grandmaster (WGM) title, after Koneru Humpy (2001) and Dronavalli Harika (2004). As of March 2020, her FIDE standard rating is 2328.

Woman Grandmaster Bodda Pratyusha, born on April 11, 1997, in Tuni, East Godavari district, Andhra Pradesh, India, is a distinguished Indian chess player who achieved the title of Woman Grandmaster (WGM) in 2020.

She became the third Telugu woman to earn this prestigious title, following in the footsteps of Koneru Humpy and Dronavalli Harika.

Woman Grandmaster Bodda Pratyusha’s journey in chess began at a young age, and she has amassed numerous accolades over the years. In 2012, she clinched the Indian Girls’ Under-17 Championship, showcasing her early promise in the sport. By April 2015, she earned the Woman International Master (WIM) title, becoming only the fourth girl from the Telugu-speaking states to do so.

Throughout her career, Woman Grandmaster Bodda Pratyusha has participated in various national and international tournaments, achieving commendable positions:

2020: At the Gibraltar Open Chess Tournament in England, she secured her third WGM norm, officially earning her the Woman Grandmaster title.

2019: Placed 4th in the National Women Chess Championship held in Madurai, India.

2018: Achieved 1st place in the Senta Open Chess for Women in Serbia and also topped the women’s category at the Thessaloniki Open in Greece.

2017: Won the women’s category at the Grandmaster Chess Tournament in Bhopal, India.

In addition to her tournament successes, Woman Grandmaster Bodda Pratyusha has been an active member of the chess community. She represented India in the Women’s Chess Olympiad held in Baku, Uzbekistan, where the Indian women’s team secured 4th place.
